"The Puzzle Of Izzy's Missing Arm."
(Continued from Peter's: "No")
###############

Location: USS STONEHENGE
Stardate: 2.80612.2336
Scene: Sickbay

Izzy sat on the bed, her eyes fixed firmly on the
lower half of her arm. "So how bad is it going to
get?"

"I'm not sure." Aerdan admitted, his eyes scanning the
latest results, "We've managed to slow it down for
now."

"But...?" Izzy prompted.

"I don't know for how long."

"I see." She nibbled on a finger nail. "It doesn't
feel that bad."

"What does it feel like?" Aerdan asked as he prepared
the next battery of tests.

"Sort of tingly. Almost as if my hand is not there."

"Not there?" Aerdan swore under his breath and
started to scan the young Alterian.

"What is it?" She tried not to get too scared, "What
have you found?"

"It's not what I've found..." Aerdan's antenna
drooped into his white hair, "Rather what I haven,t."

Scene: Ready Room -> Bridge

Peter was curled up on one of Rharn's sofas. Matthew
kneeling at his side. The British man was shivering
although sweat was filming his forehead.

"How is he?" Rharn stepped through the door, concern
etched on her face.

"No change." Matthew answered, "He's still muttering
about the few that were many."

"Is he getting more sense from them now?"

Matthew shook his head, "The echos I'm receiving from
him are like...." The Cheif Security Officer searched
for an example, "It's almost like a hive. You know
not one mind but one massive mind made up from lots of
little minds."

"Except that there are only a few of them here?"

Matthew nodded, "Though there seems to be some sort of
satisfaction starting to grow through that
consciousness."

Rharn snapped her claws out and then back away again.
"Does he need anything?" She asked softly.

"No." Matthew shook his head, "I don't think so. I
just wish he would accept the blocker at least that
way he could get some rest."

"Well we'll be approaching E4 in the next day or so.
Perhaps someone from the base will be able to assist
us."

Suddenly the lights throughout the ship started to
flash red. Rharn span on her heel, "I'm sorry
Matthew..."

"It's alright." He quickly kissed Peter's forehead,
"Hang in there love," and followed the red skinned
Captain out onto the Bridge.

"What's the situation?" Rharn snapped.

"We've got multiple sensor breakdowns over the bottom
five decks." The young ensign manning the security
station answered, "We've also lost communication with
those decks."

"How many crew members were down there?" Rharn
snapped.

"Approximately 50." The same ensign answered. He
slid from the seat and allowed Matthew to take his
position.

"Let's go with worse case scenario. I want those
decks isolated from the rest of the ship." The
Captain ordered as she stepped into her seat. "What
is the status of our *guests*" She added.

"They are still trying to feed off of the warp
narcelle, although one drifted lower down for a few
moments and then resumed its position."

Urika Shar glanced up from her position, "I did manage
to get some readings from the sensors before they
broke up."

"And?"

"Well," the Trill Science Officer looked
uncomfortable. "The best I would say is that we
appear to have intruders, although their biosigns
confirmed them to be of the crew."

"Did you get any visuals?" The crimson skinned
Nocturian asked.

"Yes." Urika's dark head bent over her console and
suddenly an image of one of the decks appeared in the
centre of the Bridge.

"Was anyone aware of Borg being on the ship?" Rharn
asked.

"That's not Borg technology." Ronnie informed the
Bridge from the Engineering Station. "At least not
from this dimension."

"Has anyone checked for dimensional incursions?"
Rharn looked around.

"Yes." Aerdan burst from the turbolift. "Izzy's arm
appears to be phasing between this and another
dimension."

"Ronnie?"

"Working on it." The Borg/Vulcan hybrid Engineer
answered, "Whatever is on those decks has been
altered. Their quantum signatures are almost the same
as ours."

"You'll find that they are out by 0.05 percent."
Aerdan informed.

Rharn swore, "What about our little banqueters?"

"Same."

"Ronnie what are you like with the D-Drive?"

"I can work it, but Peter is the expert, he's been
travelling with the D-drive longer than everyone else
in the Engineering Department."

Suddenly Rharn stilled and looked at Ronnie, "Can you
mind-meld?"

"I can but it gives me a migraine. My Borg implants
make it nigh on impossible and I am not prepared to
risk it. I'm not the one that you need Rharn sorry."

The Nocturian CO waved the moot point to one side.
"Alright we need Peter back he's going to have to take
a blocker even if it is only for ten minutes."

Aerdan nodded, "I'll try and explain to him." The
Doctor paused, "I would like to add though that Izzy's
arms is slowly deteriorating." He paused, "Eventually
it won't be just her arm disappearing."

Rharn nodded, "Get me Peter for 10 minutes." She
looked at Matthew, "I need...."

"For me to go down there and see what I can find out."

Rharn shook her head, her electric blue plait shifting
over her shoulder. "No I can do that."

"Captain..."

"Just for once I think my Nocturian biology may work
for our advantage." She steepled her fingers, "I want
Peter, yourself, Aerdan and Kiros ready within the
next 15 minutes." She rose to her feet, "I believe
that whatever is going on is focusing on our lower
decks. It is my determination that they will not
destroy the STONEHENGE."

Just before she stepped into her Ready Room she looked
at Ronnie, "I want our diners gone."

"I'll see what I can do. There may be a way for us to
use a shuttle craft."

"Use whatever is necessary." Rharn looked grim. "I
want this finished before we enter more habitable
space. For all we know our *guests* could simply be
the fore runners of an invasion. Ladies and Gents you
have five minutes to gather whatever information you
have and start to impliment your conclusions."

NRPG: Short I know but if no-one else joins in then I
will draw this mission to a close over the next week.

Anyone stuck for ideas give me a shout, but I will be
away from the comp till Sunday.
