######################### "A First Date" (Continued from Joy's: "Right This Way") ######################### Location: USS STONEHENGE Stardate: 2.80820:2235 Scene: Captain's Ready Room Rharn Alcedo dropped another PADD onto the growing pile. Her electric blue braided hair almost glowing in the dim light of her Ready Room as she shifted slightly in her chair to try and get more comfortable. She selected another PADD from the slowly decreasing pile and quickly read through the contents. A quick scrawl for her signature and it too was consigned to the equally slowly growing finished pile. The Nocturian yawned and stretched, her elbows, shoulders and along her spine made soft popping noises. She wriggled her neck from side to side and sighed with relief. "Captain you should have gone on shore leave two hours ago." Pol'Gra appeared in her doorway. "You realise that you are wasting valuable time?" The El-Aurian Operations Officer gently chided the younger alien. Rharn smiled, "And who put you in charge Commander Pol?" She asked softly. "Commander Aspinall insisted that I made sure you made shore leave this time." Pol'Gra smiled in return, "He informed me that we could all do with some decent downtime and that that included yourself." "Very well." Rharn rose to her feet, "I'd just about finished here for the night anyway." "So what will you do with your downtime?" Pol'gra asked the crimson skinned Captain. "I think I may just go and do some walking." Rharn shrugged, "I really do not understand this need for shopping that most of the females do." "I hear that there are some lovely walks up towards the volcano." "Then perhaps I shall head there." Rharn paused besides Pol'Gra, "Call me if you need me." "Of course Captain, but with Captain Zanders around I think we can just about cover." "Indeed." Rharn laughed, "Then I am, how is you say, 'Out of here?'" "Something like that." -[/\]- Scene: Rharn's Quarters. Rharn's uniform lay scattered all over her quarters and she was currently sitting before her triple mirrors and inserting the last pin into her upswept braid. A loose black and crimson t-shirt covered her torso, her legs were encased in some soft but durable black material and her feet were bare. The door chime made her glance up, "Come." T'nnent's long lean frame stepped through the entrance into her quarters. "Hey." "Hey yourself." Rharn smiled at her companion. "I thought you would have been down on the moon." "And yet you never asked?" He smiled fondly. "I thought you might require sometime alone?" Rharn offered. "No just thought that sometime with you would be nice." He perched on the edge of her table. "And I've been told about some cliffs not far from here that I thought you might like to come explore with me." Rharn looked up into black eyes that were cautiously watching her face. "I thought we had agreed to take things slowly?" "We have been. We have not seen each other socially for several weeks." He paused, his pale green skin blanching, "You have met someone else?" "No." She shook her head, "No I haven't." "So?" "So climbing would be nice." She quickly pulled all of the pins from her braid and her long electric blue hair fell down her back. Swiftly she plaited it and fastened if off with a black band. "Come on then." Rharn paused at the door, "Bast?" She called softly. Her emerald green friend dropped from the ceiling and curled his long tail around her neck. -[/\]- Location: E4 Scene: Cliff Face Rharn's arm reached up above her head and with a soft click her claws found purchase on the granite rock. She lifted a foot and found another toe-claw hole. Grinning she pulled herself another few feet up the rock face. Bast and Fest were perched slightly higher up the cliff, the two Jarax clicking encouragement at their two much larger friends. T'nnent was to the right and slightly below Rharn and was currently enjoying watching the other Nocturian lithely scamper up the cliff. He glanced down and grinned, "How high did you estimate this cliff to be?" He called across. "I forget." Rharn looked down, "How about high?" She looked up, "But I think we've broken the back of it." She tilted her head slightly to one side, "There's a hand hold to your left." The crimson skinned Nocturian offered. T'nnent grunted and pushing with his legs managed to reach the hand hold. Muscles bunched across his shoulders and down his arms as he took his body's weight onto his fingers. With a slight swing he found his next toe-hole and then glanced up again, "Rharn you'll get no-where just hanging around." Rharn blinked and then sniggered, "I was just enjoying the view." She countered and turned her attention back to her part of the cliff. Knowing that her claws would hold her securely against the cliff-face she pushed up the dark glasses and decided she would have to thank Pol'Gra for them. Rharn's black eyes scanned the cliff and she sighed, "I think we've reached a dead end." "Va'tal-tor." T'nnent suggested. Rharn closed her eyes and started to produce a quick burst of high frequency sounds, that bounced back off of the cliff. Without even opening her eyes she raised her right hand and claws extended slammed it into a section of the cliff. Granite flakes fluttered down but she had managed to create a new hand hold. Shaking his own head T'nnent forced himself to focus on his own climb and not that of his companion. -[/\]- Scene: Top of Cliff Bast had resumed his position on Rharn's right shoulder and Zen was sitting on T'nnent's left one. The two Nocturians where sitting on the top of the cliff, on a grassy bank. Their feet hanging over the edge of the cliff. Rharn offered T'nnent her water bottle, "So know of any more cliff's?" She asked softly. "Enjoyed it?" He looked at her, sunlight gleaming across his bare chest. "Oh there one or two quite exciting moments on the way up." "Really?" His lips quirked, "So wanna do it again sometime?" "I think I could force myself." She smiled and resisted the urge to push his golden hair back behind his ear. Rharn took a deep breath and sighed, "It is so quiet up here." "Yes it is." T'nnent continued to regard Rharn for a few more moments. "What?" "I don't think I've ever seen you this relaxed." He finally admitted. "It must be the exercise and fresh air." Rharn wrapped her arms around her knees and rested her head on them. "I can't remember the last time I climbed for just the enjoyment of it." "You should make the time more often." "I live on a ship for goodness sake. Besides Ronnie and the Engineering Department are still muttering about all the holes we put into the ceiling the last time we climbed." "That was different." Her green skinned companion waved the matter away, "That was an emergency." "Hmmmm." Rharn chewed on her lip, "I wonder if we could get a climbing wall on the STONE somewhere?" "If you ask them I'm sure they'd find a way." Silence descended over the cliff top, after a few minutes T'nnent shifted closer and gently reached out a hand. "Rharn?" He softly spoke her name. Rharn dragged her gaze from the view out over the forests of E4, "Yes?" T'nnent took his courage in both of his hands, "Would you like to have dinner with me?" "I would like that yes." She smiled at him, "When would you suggest?" "Are you doing anything later?" "Not particularly." The female Nocturian replied, "Would 19:00 hours be alright?" "I think I can figure something out by then." He agreed. His black eyes swept the narrow cliff top, "How do we get back down?" Rharn laughed, "I would normally suggest that we climb down, but if I am to be ready for dinner I think we should make use of the local facilities." With that she rose to her feet and offered her hand to help T'nnent to his and led the way to a small tree. On closer inspection the tree had a discrete turbo-lift control panel and Rharn tapped it to call the lift. "You mean we climbed all of that way to reach the top?" T'nnent groaned. "Yes we did, doesn't mean we have to climb all the way back down. Besides which not every species has our claws to enable them to climb such a cliff." The doors hidden in the holographically disguised tree opened before them. Together the crimson and emerald Nocturian stepped into the turbolift. -[/\]- Location: USS STONEHENGE Scene: Captain's Quarters Rharn stood before her large mirror and held a simple black dress in front of her. Shaking her head she tossed it onto the pile of clothes already accumulating on her bed. Almost despairing she lifted a box from the bottom of her closet, with careful fingers she placed it onto her bed and then opened it. Nestled in a bed of tissue paper was an electric blue gown. Rharn lifted it up and held it before her, with a smile she shrugged out of her robe and pulled the dress over her head. The colour of the gown matched almost exactly the blue of her hair, although as she moved it shimmered into darker and paler blues. Rharn tilted her head to one side and then slowly nodded. The dress hugged her curves without clinging and three spaghetti straps over each shoulder ensured that the dress would stay in place. She reached for her hair brush and pulled it through her long hair one final time. Instead of her normal braids or knots, this time the female Nocturian had opted to leave her hair loose, so it know fell it soft curls down to almost the floor. One single crimson grip held a small lock up over her right ear. The bulk of the rest of her hair, Rharn had pulled over her left shoulder A gentle application of what passed for Nocturian make-up had her tattoos gleaming around her right eye and across the back of her right arm and hand. Several bangles of various crimsons, blues, greens and golds adorned her left wrist and upper arm. Another final look at the over all effect Rharn turned her back to the mirrors and glanced back over her shoulder. The back of her dress started just above her waist, Rharn's lips twisted slightly as it was definately something that a normal Nocturian female would not have considered wearing ever. Taking a deep breath Rharn slipped her feet into a pair of blue 2" heeled shoes. Then before her courage could desert her completely walked out of her quarters. -[/\]- Scene: La Fassau T'nnent was sitting at the table that he had booked and was staring out at the double moons of E4 and out into space. A single red rose was waiting besides his plate and the Nocturian male was trying very hard to get his nerves under control. The green skinned alien knew that he was entering unknown territory with this meal, but his friends on the crew had been talking about dates that they had gone on and for some reason T'nnent realised that he wanted to have memories like those with Rharn. The sudden drop in the noise level of the small restaurant had him looking up. His dark eyes having already compensated the for slightly brighter (though to Human eyes dim) light looked straight across the room and he almost gasped. T'nnent was used to seeing Rharn in traditional Nocturian robes or her Starfleet uniform this was the first time he had seen her dressed up to the nines. The Nocturian male felt the hairs on the back of his neck rise slightly as he realised his were not the only male eyes watching Rharn Alcedo cross the room to his side. Quickly wiping his palms on the soft fabric of his black trousers he rose to his feet. "Hi." Rharn smiled up at him. "Am I late?" "No." T'nnent hurried to reassure her, "I was slightly early, and I did not want you waiting for me." He moved around the table and if his normal graceful movements seemed slightly *off* Rharn made no comment. Carefully he held her chair out for her, "I wasn't sure that you would come." "Why?" Rharn blinked as she settled herself onto the chair, "I promised you that I would be here." "I know...." "You have been listening to the crew again T'nnent Pleo." She gently chided her companion, "Just because we live amongst the stars does not mean that I will change the way I behave." "I have noticed that you still observe many of the old customs." He re-took his own seat, "But you have not dressed in the normal fashion." "I believe in being allowed to express myself as I wish." She picked up the old fashioned menu. "And sometimes it is nice to play dress up." T'nnent swallowed, "Can I just say that you look lovely." "Why thank you." She regarded her dinner companion, "You scrub up pretty well yourself." He smiled and lifted the rose, "I got this for you." Rharn gently took the offered flower and lifted it to her nose. "It smells wonderful." Carefully she tucked it into her hair above her right ear, "Thank you." "It is my pleasure." "Are you ready to order?" A tall Vulcan glided to their table. ----------------------------- NRPG: Completely character centered I known. :-) ---------------------------- Margie Benham <madhron_at_yahoo.co.uk> Speaking for: Captain Rharn Alcedo Commanding Officer USS STONEHENGE NCC 12507 -and- Captain Mad'hron Zanders Commanding Officer E4 -and- Lieutenant Ronnie Zanders aCEO USS STONEHENGE NCC 12507 -and- Commodore Morelia Amethystina Director Of Advanced Command Training Starfleet Academy, EARTH Send instant messages to your online friends http://uk.messenger.yahoo.com From HyperNews_at_youth.net
